A Clare toddler suffered serious injures after a dog attack over the weekend.
This incident happened in the Ballynacally area on Saturday afternoon when 3 year old Abbey O’Dononghue was in the garden of a relatives home along with a 21 year old cousin and a number of other children
Without warning a husky dog launched an unprovoked attack on the young girl but the others present then managed to scare the dog away
The toddler suffered serious lacerations and was rushed to Ennis General Hospital before being transferred to Galway where she expected to make a full recovery
On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Cathal O’Donoghue, Abbey’s father about the incident and how Abbey is recovering.

Clare ISPCA Warden Frankie Coote had a word having been on the scene on Saturday, he said that the animal would have to be put down
This is the second such case in the region in recent weeks after a 2 year old from Carew Park in Limerick was seriously injured after being attacked by the family’s pet husky.

A group of lay Catholics is organising a vigil this week – in support of priests who have been silenced by the Vatican
Redemptorist priest Fr Tony Flannery has been advised by Rome to go to a monastery for a period of reflection – because of his views on contraception, celibacy and women’s ordination
The group, ‘We Are Church Ireland’ says these priests are articulating the views of the majority of Irish Catholics
Research published last week showed that on average – three quarters of Catholics surveyed did not agree with Vatican teaching on homosexuality, contraception and married priests
The vigil will take place next Sunday outside the Papal Nuncio on the Navan Road in Dublin next Sunday
Brendan Butler, Spokesman for We Are Church, spoke with John.
