Morning Focus Tuesday August 28

The effects of changes to the school bus system is concerning people in the South East of the county

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus Marian Egan spoke with Meelick councillor Cathal Crowe and Carmel Carey from Kilmurry who has six children – two already finished secondary school – both went to school in Shannon. This year she explained that she has a son going into first year in Shannon
It was only in June that she received a letter to say that their local school catchment area is now Tulla
This means her son is only entitled to a concessionary ticket meaning if there’s room on the bus he can travel on it but if it’s full he cannot
Councillor John Crowe in Sixmilebridge echoed the same concern on behalf of other families affected by cathcment area changes.
