Following the third apparent suicide linked to cyber bullying in recent weeks young people are being urged to speak out and seek help if they are being bullied online
According to the ISPCC cyber bullying is a 24 hour insidious issue
Children who are exposed to this form of bullying can face a 24 hour barrage of insults, threats and innuendo which can mean that there is no let up from the abuse

On Thursday’s Morning Focus we heard some Clare parents’ thoughts on social media and cyber bullying when Doireann Wilde took to the streets yesterday

John Cooke spoke with Lisa Collins, Policy and Information Officer with the ISPCC – Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. They are asking every parent to speak to their child today about their experiences online and make this a regular part of conversation at home.

Fianna Fail Leader Micheál Martin will  visit Clare tomorrow
He will be meeting grass root members and attending local Cumann events in the county and he’ll be with Deputy Timmy Dooley as he launches a policy document for development in the Shannon Region at Shannon Airport in the afternoon
John spoke with Deputy Martin ahead of his visit, asking his views on progression of Shannon separation from DAA; local healthcare provision, his thoughts on local government reforms- abolishing town councils and cutting numbers of towns councillors and about plans to rebuild the Fianna Fail party in Clare.

Surfers have claimed that Clare County Council hasn’t done enough to show that a planned new pier for Doolin will not have a negative impact on the Crab Island Waves off North Clare, described as ‘the jewel in the crown’ of Irish surfing
Representatives of the Irish Surfing Association were addressing an oral hearing held by An Board Pleanala in Ennistymon yesterday, at which local Ferry Operators called for the proposed 8 million euro structure to go proceed in the economic interests of the North Clare and the Aran Islands
John spoke with Tom Doidge Harrison of the Irish Surfing Association and West Coast Surf Club; Bill O’Brien of O’Brien-Line – Doolin Ferries and Mattie Shannon of Doolin Coastguard. 

The Tourism Minister from one of the world’s most exotic holiday destinations has been checking out the best of what County Clare has to offer on his first visit to Ireland
The Seychelles Government recently signed a deal with the Shannon College of Hotel Management for it to exclusively educate hospitality students from the exotic Indian Ocean group of Islands, and Seychelles’ Tourism Minister  Alain St. Ange is making a follow up visit to County Clare this week
As well as visiting students in Shannon, the Seychelle’s representative also visited the Cliffs of Moher and attended a medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park last night
Alain St. Ange spoke with John about his visit to Clare.
