The decision by Luis Suarez not to appeal his 10 match ban for biting during last week’s draw with
The Liverpool forward has been the focus of much ire during his time in English soccer with the latest incident just another footnote in a career which has been marked by moments of brilliance but more often marked by serious lapses in discipline.
The striker is one of the world’s best players but clearly from the original incident in
Liverpool are unlikely to sell the striker voluntarily but with the player being out of action until mid October and possibly Liverpool’s chances of making the Champions league in dry dock along with him then it would be hard to see any other outcome.
Suarez didn’t appeal so as not to being any further sanctions on top of him but it is clear that
Privately Brendan Rodgers must be seething and I’m sure John Henry won’t have been best pleased either but with a 10 match ban over his head it seems inconceivable that the Reds will not cash in and reinvest in the squad with Suarez coveted by top clubs across Europe.
No right minded Liverpool fan could defend his action but the worry for fans of the Kop are now what will Rodgers do with the 40 million plus he is likely to get for the club’s top goalscorer.
Is there another Suarez out there or perhaps more worryingly will it herald the arrival of another Andy Carroll?
