On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Junior Health Minister Alex White

Clare residents are being invited to have their say on Alcohol Awareness at a meeting in Ennis tonight

Minister White is among the speakers who are due to address an audience at the Templegate Hotel at 8pm this evenin,g along with health experts and Clare Under 21 Hurling Joint Manager Donal Moloney
The meeting will consider arguments for the introduction of minimum pricing for alcohol as well as the issues of alcohol advertising and sports sponsorship
The public meeting on alcohol awareness which will be held in the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis tonight at 8pm.

Former Mayor of Clare Pat Daly spoke with John and called on the GAA to contribute to the holiday funds of the Clare and Cork senior hurlers, as the teams prepare to contest the All Ireland Hurling Final Replay
With the game giving a near three million euro boost to the Association’s coffers, Ennis Councillor Pat Daly, chairman of the Eire Og club , has written to Croke Park to ask that around ten per cent of this be given to the players of both counties.

A group of two hundred parents from Ennis National School have handed a petition into the council calling for action to be taken to tackle traffic problems at the new Ennis National School
They say a pedestrian crossing on the main road is needed and footpath needs to be extended properly

Doonaha native Kevin Haugh joined John in studio to speak about his book written about his cancer experience
It’s an honest account of Kevin’s life before, during and after he was unexpectedly diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
The book portrays the changes that diagnosis imposed on his family, brought to his home and inflicted on his relationships
At his oncologist’s suggestion, he began to keep a diary to help him focus -that diary became the book

An Imperfect Storm will be launched at the George Boutique Hotel, O’Connell Street, Limerick on Monday by Clare hurling legend Ger Loughnane at 6p.m

It’s the final classic of the flat season, the Gain Irish St. Ledger on Sunday, September 15th at the Curragh Racecourse

This promises to be a fantastic day with lots of exciting entertainment on and off the track

This year’s fundraising R.N.L.I Burren Ramble Black Head Mountain & Shore walk is taking place this coming Sunday
It lasts approx three and a half hours and those who wish to participate are asked to meet at Fanore Beach car park at 12.30pm and the walk begins at 1pm
