The Afternoon Show – Wednesday October 30th 2013

Joining Máire on The Afternoon Show was Tom Doyle, the Farm Business Chairman with the Irish Farmers Association. The IFA is recommending that pre-nuptial agreements be given recognition under Irish law. As it stands such agreements are not officially recognised in Ireland but they are legal. The organisation says there is fear within the farming community over the change in social structures in Ireland and the level of family breakups. John Bryan, President of the IFA says the arrangement would have to be fair for both parties.

The Killaloe Festival of Light is a modern blend of old and ancient global cultural events, like Samhain, Diwali, and Dia de los Muertos. Each of those festivals take their inspiration from the victory of good over evil, and all show reverence for the souls of the dead; whether old ancestors or the newly passed. This was also a time for celebrating the end of harvest and the beginning of Winter, the transition between the light half of the year to the dark half.  It runs from Friday until Sunday November 3rd.
