General Practitioners are calling for a five-fold increase in their allocation of the health care budget to around 650 million euro
GPs currently receive 2 percent of the spending, compared to 9 percent in other European countries
The Irish Medical Organisation – which represents GPs – says the budget allocation has been cut by 7 percent over the last five years
The number of patients with either medical cards or GP visit cards has risen by 38 percent during the same period. The Irish Medical Organisation, which represents over 2,000 GPs,  launched this campaign on Friday
