The Garda Commissioner has confirmed that the fraud squad is now leading the investigation into a security breach at a local company that happened a month ago
It’s understood around 376 thousand people may have been effected by the security breach after the company Loyaltybuild confirmed it was the victim of a "sophisticated" criminal attack
Following this breach the Data Protection Commissioner sent a team of inspectors to Loyaltybuild’s offices on Station Road in Ennis
This incident has raised concern over the general security of our online account information
On Wednesday’s Morning Focus Marian Egan spoke with Kilnamona Councillor James Breen who had his credit card hacked in recent weeks
He said his bank were quick to spot this and alerted him at once but he urged people to keep a close eye on their accounts as a result.
Parents are to have a say on the types of school uniforms their children wear
The Department of Education is to canvass parents on whether they’d rather keep crested uniforms or have the option of buying cheaper clothing from chain stores to which school crests can be applied later.
Schools will be asked to ballot parents on the issue by February of next year

Marian spoke with Minister for Education and Skills Ruairi Quinn about the issue of uniforms
Minister Quinn also said he’s hopeful that he’ll be able to release more funds for works to be carried out on Clare’s primary schools after he announced 70 million euro in funding as he re-introduced Minor Works Grants and the Summer Works Scheme earlier this month, but was warned by local teaching representatives that the effect would be minimal if this investment was a one-off.

He said that it’s important parents wishes are not sidelined by the school authorities on this issue and this data gathering exercise should be done through the parents councils and facilitated by the school.
Antibiotics are being overused according to new research
This was carried out as the problem of resistance to the medicine continues to grow with doctors now prescribing stronger antibiotics than before
The study also found that the use of powerful antibiotics will result in the development of more dangerous strains of bacterial infections that will be harder to fight.
Marian spoke with Professor of Bacteriology at NUI Galway Martin Cormican and began by asking him about when antibiotics were first used.
