Brother Dege and Tom Portman, Singers and Musicians from Louisiana and Galway respectively joined Máire in studio ahead of their gig in Lahinch tonight. Brother Dege and Tom Portman have teamed up for a tour of Ireland. Louisiana delta slide player Brother Dege, is straight from the European tour of his new album ‘How to kill a Horse’ and Galway Guitarist/Dobro player Tom Portman will be playing pieces from his 2013 release ‘Float Your Blues Away’ for the tour. Dege has pushed slide, resonators, and the deep south, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, melding elements of folk, Delta blues, punk, rock, metal, hippie ragas, and outlaw county into one blasted, raw whole.  Playing support on this tour Portman has simultaneously cultivated a thriving solo career playing a blend of blues, contemporary, traditional and eastern tinged original music. Dege has also made a claim to fame by being featured on Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained soundtrack. They’re in Kenny’s in Lahinch tonight.

Catriona Lowry was in studio to review The Family with Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer and also The Hunger Games Part 2 – Catching Fire with Jennifer Lawrence.
