Clare County Council, following consultation with Members of the West Clare Municipal District (MD), has announced a preferred solution to the long-standing traffic problems at Blakes Corner in Ennistymon, County Clare. Consulting engineers Roughan and O'Donovan confirmed that the emerging preferred solution would involve the construction of an inner relief road incorporating a new bridge across the Inagh River 80 metres upstream of the existing Conway Bridge and Blakes Corner.

Sheena Clancy who owns West Clare Flowers in Ennistymon and Judith O'Donoghue, an elderly resident in the area both spoke emotionally to John on the show about the effects the proposed solution would have on them.

John was also joined by Fianna Fail councillor from Ennistymon, Richard Nagle and Bill Slattery, Fine Gael councillor from Lahinch to debate this issue.

Ennis man and local Tyre Centre worker Keith Whyte came into studio to talk to John about how he smashed a world record as he won the Antarctic 100km Ice Marathon race on Union Glacier last week

He completed the gruelling course in one of the most remote places in the world in a record time of 9 hours and 26 minutes, beating the old record by almost 2 hours, battling sub zero temperatures (about minus 30 and below), snow, ice and poor visibility through fog along the way.

Keith arrived back in yesterday to a heroes welcome and is already considering a race to the North Pole as his next challenge!  Many listeners got in touch with the show to congratulate Keith on his great success.

John Underhill of Burren Vets was in studio for his weekly slot and today spoke to John about bull vasectomy and why farmers could benefit from it by helping them to increase their herd fertility.
