Morning Focus – Friday, November 6, 2015

Morning Focus heard from internet users in Ennis about the quality of their services and views were mixed.
Mary Skeehan joined Gavin in studio to discus her struggle with cancer. Mary was diagnosed with bowel cancer (by chance) in 2013. She has stomach problems due to a reaction to medication. A friend encouraged her to see a gastroenterologist and the cancer was diagnosed. After her treatment and recovery, Mary went back to work with Clare County Council. She was diagnosed in 2014 with liver cancer after a routine scan. Mary considers herself very lucky to have been diagnosed at an early stage in both cancers and to have made such a good recovery. Colleagues of Mary's joined her for a fundraiser on Mount Callan.
Gavin heard of broadband problems in West Clare. Simon Wilson spoke about his ongoing problems with his service from Eir.
Dr Malie Coyne spoke to Gavin about helping children to manage their emotions.
Our weekly arts roundup with County Arts Officer Siobhan Mulcahy focused on events around the county. The roundup of weekend heard about a range of fundraisers around the county.
The Friday panel was made up of Sarah Ferrigan, Development Officer with Clare Women’s Network; Clare Burke who is on student placement as a case worker with Doras Luimni in Limerick, and a third-year social care student in LIT; and Diarmuid McMahon MD of Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon.
Morning Focus concluded with an update on the Ennis Trad Fest.
