Clare’s Lifeguards will take to the county’s main beaches in the coming week as the summer season gets into full swing.
There was concern the positions would go unfilled this year due to the government recruitment embargo in the public sector.
While the Environment Minister dismissed this, local authorities are only able to appoint lifeguards to cover beaches at the weeknds only in June.
