It's after his local branch – Dublin Central – passed a unanimous motion last night calling for a letter to be written to the former Taoiseach inviting him back into the fold.
A spokesperson for Fianna Fáil says if and when – Mr Ahern makes an application to rejoin – the request will be put through the same process as any other citizen.
