The Fianna Fail proposal has received the backing of Sinn Féin, Labour, Anti Austerity Alliance and opposition Independents and also includes an mechanism for people in flood risk areas who have been refused cover.
The Government had expressed concerns the provisions contained in the bill could push up the prices of premiums, however it now appears they will now back it, when it comes before the Dail today.
Deputy Joe Carey hopes the bill will be of benefit to many people here in Clare.
