Clare Rent Prices Continue To Rise

Latest figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show the cost of renting a home in the county is now 8 and half percent higher than this time last year. 

The RTB figures that average private rent in Clare was 571 euro at the end of September, which is 44 euro higher than the same time in 2015. 

That's a rise of 8 and a half percent, while the cost of renting between July and September alone has risen by 2.8%. 

Director of the RTB, Rosalind Carroll says the Clare figures are similiar to those in other more rural parts of the country, where prices are increasing more quickly than in Dublin.

The Simon Community is calling on the Government to reform the private rented sector. 

Later today, Fianna Fail and the Government are due to vote down a Sinn Fein bill aimed at tackling soaring rent prices.
