Following a protracted battle, amid concerns that it would look to skirt labour laws, Norwegian Air International has finally been given a licence to operate flights between Ireland and the US.
While Norwegian will also fly routes from Cork, Shannon began negotiations with the airline in 2014 and a deal has been struck to fly a route to Boston.
The Airport says it's looking forward to welcoming Norwegian services to Shannon "in due course".
