An application to have them removed from the office block, along with about 30 homeless people now staying there goes before the High Court this morning.

Minister Simon Coveney says there are sufficient emergency beds in Dublin for anyone sleeping rough who needs one this Christmas.

And he says Apollo House isn't the answer as it doesn't provide all the support services that people need

Meanwhile, a Clare campaigner for the homeless believes the Government has become desensitised to the needs of the people they should be serving.

Ann Rynne from Miltown Malbay recently briefed Clare County Council on the crisis in Ennis, and says there are six people sleeping under hedges in the county town this week.

She's highlighting that almost one million euro is being spent annually on housing people in hotels in hostels, at a time when 200,000 homes across the country are vacant.

She says Apollo House has begun a much needed conversation about homelessness but believes now is the time for action.
