Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings as Storm Barbara sweeps across Ireland.

Winds at Dublin and Cork are already reported to be gusting to over 85 kilometres an hour, stronger than the winds here.

Aircraft on approach to Dublin have been advised to expect longer holding times, and some have already diverted to Shannon, including a Lufthansa service from Frankfurt, Ryanair services from Beauvais, Brussels and Gatwick and another flight from Milan.

An Aer Lingus Regional flight from Manchester to Cork has also diverted to Shannon, meaning hundreds of passengers have made unintended stop-offs in Clare today.
