The latest Irish Business Against Litter Survey, which has been published today, shows that both Clare towns are now Cleaner than European Norms.
The An Taisce report released today, places Ennis in 6th place in the country this year, while Shannon is 10th in the ranking of 40 towns and cities.
It's the county town's best ever performance in the IBAL league, with the three approach roads into Ennis scoring the top litter grade.
The residential area of The Hawthorns was immaculate throughout, while Merchant’s Square and Market Place were also in very good order.
But the report has warned that while the Water Mill is a lovely feature, care needs to be taken that litter doesn’t build up within the water.
In Shannon, Smithstown Business Park, Town Park at Bothar na Rinne and the residential area of Aidan Park were said to be in excellent order, when surveyed, and was very well presented and maintained.
