New figures by the INMO show there were 612 patients in need of a bed today –  beating the previous record of 495, set in 2006.

University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded with 46 people in need of a bed.

The union says there were 94 thousand on trolleys last year – compared to 50 thousand in 2007 when the situation was declared a 'National Emergency'.
