Nurses Say Overcrowded EDs Leading To “Chaotic” And “Cruel” Conditions

Officials are expecting the numbers of people on trolleys to be the same, if not worse today, after yesterday's record high of 612.

University hosptial Limerick suffered the highest level of overcrowding in the country, with 46 people waiting for a bed.

It's reported that sixteen ambulances, which it's claimed is the HSE's entire fleet for the Mid-West region, were parked up at the Dooradoyle facility at one point yesterday evening, as paramedics waited to offload patients into the ED.

The INMO wants an immediate recruitment and retention programme to be put in place for nursing staff.
