A Homeless Action Team is due to open an office in Clare in two months time, to help deal with the county's homelessness crisis.
It comes as the latest figures from the Housing Department shows the number of people seeking assistance for homelessness more than doubled from 13 in January last year to 27 in November.
The new service will offer a single point of contact between the local authority and state agencies, with the HSE providing services, advice and support to those experiencing homelessness.
Social worker with Clare County Council, Damien McMahon says the focus will be on finding and sustaining accommodation for people seeking help.
