The thoroughbreds were purchased for Zhang Yuesheng by Kildare-based agency BBA Ireland from Irish breeders at autumn sales.

They were airlifted in a 4-month-old Boeing 747 cargo plane from Shannon and landed in Beijing late on Thursday night before being transported to stables over the weekend.

The 3 million euro airlift was the largest ever single movement of Irish horses to China and has been described as the biggest success to date for the Irish thoroughbred industry in terms of the Chinese market.
