President Elect Donald Trump has cited planning difficulties at his Doonbeg golf resort as an example of bureaucracy in the EU.

Mr. Trump has given interviews to The Times of London, and to German publication Der Bild, in which he has called Doonbeg "magnificent."

However, he's also claimed that "environmental tricks" were used to halt expansion there, and that he found the experience to be "very unpleasant."

He claims that th get EU approvals would have taken years, and that this is bad for Ireland as a whole.

Last week, President Elect Trump announced that has turned over control of his business empire, including his Doonbeg resort, to his sons Eric and Don as well as to another business associate.
