Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour leader, made this claims as Theresa May defended her plan at Prime Ministers Questions this lunchtime.

There's been particular criticism of May's decision to take the UK out of the single market.

Meanwhile, the likely impacts of a hard Brexit on Ireland are still being assessed, with concern about trade deals as Britain gets ready to leave the Single European Market.

There's also been calls for a special case to be made for the status of Northern Ireland where a majority voted to remain within the EU; though some consolation's being taken from the fact that Theresa May says a common travel area with the Republic will be among her considerations.

Against this backdrop, Clare's Junior Minister Pat Breen insists that Ireland is well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
