The 90-day ban prevents immigrants and refugees from seven Muslim majority countries from entering the US and is being enforced at the pre-clearance area at Shannon Airport.

A protest is due to take place at the mid-west airport this week over the issue.

The US President's initiative, which bans immigrants and refugees from seven Muslim majority countries is being enforced at the US pre-clearance facilities at Shannon and Dublin Airports.

And the US Embassy says anyone who has a visa interview booked, and is from one of the barred countries, shouldn't attend their appointment.

But calls are now being made for an investigation into whether or not it's legal to implement the policy here.

Minister Katherine Zappone believes it may be a breach of our laws because of discrimination.

But while there has been widespread condemnation of Trump's plan, the President is sticking by it.

Liam Kennedy, Director of the Clinton Institute at UCD, says some of his supporters will believe it's a positive move.

Here, Clare's Independent TD believes the US President's immigration ban could cause huge legal issues as it's applied in the pre-clearance facilities at Shannon and Dublin Airports.

Dr Michael Harty says one way or another, there will have to be a negotiation on the matter of interaction of Irish and U.S. law.

A protest against the law is taking place in Shannon on Thursday evening organised by anti-war group ShannonWatch.

They insist US authorities can't be allowed to deny refugees, asylum seekers, visa holders and even legal residents of the US their basic human rights on Irish soil.

Meanwhile, the US president is again defending his travel ban this lunchtime.

In posts on social media, he said only 109 people out of 325-thousand were detained and held for questioning at the weekend.

Donald Trump claims big problems at airports were caused by computer problems at Delta Airlines.
