The full review, ordered by the Taoiseach in light of Donald Trump's controversial Immigration Ban, is expected in March.

The facility has been given support by the majority of TDs, as well as the full cabinet, but there have been calls from some to scrap it, amid concerns over the legality of implementing the US President's enforcement order at our airports.

Minister of State Breen says pre-clearance is extrememly important for the region

Meanwhile, crowds of protestors are expected to descend on Shannon Airport this evening for a protest against President Trump's Immigration ban.

The event has been organised by anti-war group Shannonwatch, but is due to be attended by a number of groups including Sinn Féin and the Anti-Austerity Alliance/People Before Profit.

It will coincide with a similar protest outside the US embassey in Dublin.
