Its claimed that Clare is more progressive than many parts of the country when it comes to the handling of domestic violence or abuse.
The newly published Domestic Violence Bill will make it easier to secure a barring order, while people seeking the order will be able to be accompanied in court, and if necessary, provide evidence by video link.
It follows a long running campaign by a number of agencies and government figures, including former Shannon Senator Tony Mulcahy, and is expected to be enacted into law by the summer.
