A Supreme Court judge will this morning open a tribunal investigating the alleged smearing of Garda whistleblowers.
Justice Peter Charleton will give an opening statement at a largely ceremonial session of the inquiry, just under two weeks after it was agreed by the cabinet that one should be set up.
It’s expected the speech will set out the timeline of proceedings.

Head of the School of Law at University of Limerick, Professor Shane Kilcommins says there’s also speculation that the hearings will be allowed to be recorded for tv and radio.
