Farmers’ Group Hits Out At Rural Ireland Policies

One of the country’s largest farming organisations has branded government policy on rural Ireland as “utterly bewildering”.

The comments follow reports that An Post could close offices nationwide as part of cost saving measures, together with fears that Ulster Bank is on the verge of shutting one in four of its branches in the state.

This, combined with the threat of industrial action at Bus Eireann, has led to the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association questioning government-made commitments in their Action Plan For Rural Development.
