Sturgeon Calls For Second Independence Referendum

The Scottish first minister says she will look to hold a second independence referendum.

Nicola Sturgeon needs the support of the majority of the Scottish parliament and the agreement of the British government.

Downing street has responded saying another vote would be divisive and cause huge economic uncertainty at the worst possible time.

Ms Sturgeon says it’ll be held between autumn next year and spring 2019 when the terms of Brexit are known.

Meanwhile, The British Parliament’s expected to finally grant Theresa May the legal right to trigger negotiations to leave the EU later.

The House of Lords voted to make two amendments to the Brexit Bill.

But it’s likely to pass unchanged when it’s debated in the Commons today.
