Settlement Offer Rejected In Clare Injury Case

The President of the Circuit Court has refused a 50 thousand euro settlement offer to a young Clare teenager who hurt his knee in a fall at a Dublin hotel.

Patrick Scanlon sustained the injury when he slipped on a wet floor in the swimming pool area of a Dublin Maldron Hotel in July 2015.

Suing for negligence through his mother, Mary O’Brien of Ballaghboy, Doora, Ennis, the court heard details of his injuries and how he now has difficulty walking long distances and climbing stairs.

The Irish Independent reports that a 50 thousand euro settlement offer was made, but refused by Mr. Justice Raymond Groarke who said he didn’t know if Patrick’s knee problem was permanent.
