A West Clare Postmaster fears that hundreds more post offices than expected will soon have to close.
It follows the admission by an Post this week that 265 post offices around the country are unviable and may have to shut their doors due to to the fact they’re not near any “discernible area of population”.
There are fears that 600 in total of the country’s 1,100 post offices could be cut under a restructuring plan, which Miltown Malbay Postmaster Elaine Hogan believes could be closer to the truth.

She says this will ultimately be set in motion from today, when the price of the stamp has gone up.
