The defending champions looked to be in control of the game, taking a 2-0 lead through Eoin Hayes and Paddy Purcell with 60 minutes on the clock.

The comeback happened in a 5 minute spell as Town’s hat trick hero Colin Scanlon got the first of his trio from the penalty spot before tying things up 20 minutes from time.

Scanlon wrapped up his hat trick and the title on the 78th minute.

Newmarket pushed for the equalizer that would swing it back in their favour but Town held firm to be crowned champions.

Manager Donal Magee says it’s a huge moment for the club
