16 people have been killed in work-related accidents in Clare this decade.
That’s according to figures from the Health and Safety Authority, who say there were no fatal work-related accidents in Clare last year.
This is the first time that has occurred since 2013.

Nationally, however, there were 45 such fatalities.
Figures dating back to 2010 show 16 people here have lost their lives in these accidents and this is the eighth highest of any county in Ireland.
Cork had the highest number of fatal workpalce accidents both last year and throughout this decade.
Clare Junior Minister Pat Breen, who attended an event in Dublin to mark the third annual Workers’ Memorial Day, has called for an increased focus on safety in the workplace.
