Ennis Woman Wins Prestigious Trad Music Award

An Ennis woman has been announced as this year’s winner of the prestigious MÓRGlór Award for traditional music.

Geraldine Cotter, a well-known tin whistle and piano player, teacher and researcher is this year’s recipient of the honour which is named after Muiris Ó Rocháin, and awards Outstanding Contributions to traditional music in Clare.

Geraldine Cotter, who is a lecturer at Mary Immaculate College, has produced in excess of twenty albums, and written a number of publications.

She also comes from a family of musicians, with her brother Eamonn a well-known flute player and her mother Dympna a piano teacher for over sixty years.
