Clare’s Senator is calling for the timeline to be put in place for the wind-down of direct provision centres.
The centres were established in 2000 as temporary accommodation for asylum seekers but in many cases, families have been living in them for years.
The Seanad has been discussing the government’s Migrant Integration Strategy, which aims to assist those born overseas to participate fully in Irish life.
