Clare’s County Dog Warden is calling for tighter laws on the ownership of dangerous dogs.
It comes after a woman in her 60’s died after being attacked by two dogs in Moycullen, Co. Galway on Sunday afternoon.
Frankie Coote says he has intervened in a number of serious cases in the past five years, and he believes this has ultimately prevented the loss of life.

He believes background tests should be carried out before someone can own a restricted dog.
