Health Minister Simon Harris has opened the new emergency department at the region’s main hospital in Dooradoyle.
The 24 million euro facility has been in operation for two weeks and was described by the Minister as a “world class” department.

Meanwhile, nurses say University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded in the country.
The latest figures from the INMO show 47 people were waiting for beds there this morning.
University Hospital Galway is next with 36 people on trolleys and overflow areas of wards.
