Flood defence measures in Clonlara are one step closer following the announcement by the OPW that it’s to provide capital funding for the project.
The Office of Public works has approved the proposed CFRAMS measures, subject to a number of conditions.
The works will include a kilometre-long embankment, which will be 1.75 metres high, as well as the construction of a second smaller land bank and a nearby pumping station.

Clare County Council will have to provide a detailed assessment of the project before it can go ahead but Clare’s Junior Minister, Pat Breen is confident that it can proceed:
