A new chief justice is set to be announced this afternoon.
The cabinet’s considering a shortlist of three nominees for the position, to replace Susan Denham who retires next month.
The names have been put forward by a special committee, due to the delay in passing laws to reform judicial appointments.

It means the Cabinet will have more discretion than usual over who to consider.
