An Ennis-based voluntary organisation which aims to change the attitudes of men who are violent in their own homes is to roll out increased one-on-one services from next month.
MOVE Ireland aims to protect women and children from domestic violence by educating men who’ve been referred to their service, or who refer themselves.
Latest figures show a 55 percent jump in the reporting of incidents of domestic violence in Clare in the first eight months of the year compared with the same period last year.

Local Gardaí believe it’s in part because of improved public confidence in reporting, and Anne McMahon – who is the South West Co-ordinator of MOVE Ireland – agrees that is a factor.
