Crowds are expected to descend on Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon tonight to protest over ongoing issues at the notorious traffic blackspot.
Plans for a long-term solution are expected to advance by the end of the year, with Clare County Council installing traffic lights in an effort to ease congestion in the meantime.
But business owners say the measures aren’t working and that traffic gridlock is preventing emergency services from moving freely between Ennistymon and Lahinch.

The protest is taking place from 6 o’clock this evening and Publican Joe McInerney of the ‘Lets Get Ennistymon Moving’ group says they won’t give up until they yield results:
