Tributes Paid To Kilmaley Musician Peadar O’Loughlin

Renowned Kilmaley musician Peadar O’Loughlin is being remembered as ‘a mentor’.

The prolific musician died yesterday after a long career in traditional music – known for playing the flute, the fiddle and the uileann pipes.

He had been a staple on the music scene in Clare and further afield since the 1940s and was featured on a 1959 LP which was one of the first recordings of its kind of traditional Irish music.

Harry Hughes of the Willie Clancy Summer School says Peadar, who was also known as Peter, was well-respected by up and coming musicians.
