Claims Rising Rents Are Damaging Clare’s Local Economy

It’s claimed the county’s lack of housing stock has become a deterrent for investors hoping to set up or expand businesses here.

The latest figures from the Residential Tenancies Board show the cost of renting a home in this county has shot up by 10% to an average monthly price of just under €680 – it represents a rise of €150 in just two years.

Cormac O’Sullivan of DNG O’Sullivan Hurley in Ennis says that almost 30% of the entire sales market this year has been made up of landolords exiting the market, which has further compounded the issue.
