Orange Weather Warning Remains in Place For Clare

ESB crews are working to restore power to thousands of customers in the wake of Storm Eleanor.

A status orange wind warning remains in place until 2 o’clock this afternoon for Clare and all other Atlantic coastal counties, while a yellow wind warning’s in place for Tipperary, Waterford, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon.

There are no major issues reported in Clare, but the Council is warning of the continued risk that high winds combined with expceptionally high seas could result in flooding or damage in coastal areas, including along the Shannon Estuary.

Gardai say there is debris on the N67 through Quilty Village, while seaweed and stones have washed up on the Kilrush to Moneypoint Road.

Shannon Airport is operating as normal, with the weather having no impact on flights overnight or this morning, but the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre has been closed due to the danger posed by the high winds.

There were a number of power outages in Clare overnight and 75 premises in the Spanish Point area and 39 in the Tulla area remain without supply this morning.
