The 50th Merriman Winter School is underway in Ennis this weekend.
The event, which aims to celebrate Irish language and culture, got underway last evening at the Old Ground Hotel, with a number of events being held today the Rowan Tree Bar and Cafe.
The Merriman Winter School is named after Brian Merriman, author of the celebrated eighteenth century Rabelaisian poem, Cúirt an Mheán Oíche and was first held in 1967.

It’s being run in partnership with the Ennis based An Clar as Gaelige and Sara Ni Conmara from the group says it’s a chance to soak in the culture in a relaxed setting.
