The region’s main hospital is continuing to experience high levels of overcrowding today.
According to the INMO, there were 49 patients awaiting a bed at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 24 of those on trolleys in the emergency department.
It’s once again the highest number in the country but marks a reduction from yesterday’s peak of 62.

The UL Hospitals Group pointed to a high number presenting at the ED over the weekend as the reason for yesterday’s spike, as well as a high number of patients in isolation awaiting results of tests such as flu swabs.
