The local authority’s Waste Enforcement Team is to make more use of the Eircode system to track the way in which people are disposing of their rubbish.
In response to a call by a number of councillors over the ongoing scourge of illegal dumping in this county, Clare County Council has said the system is regularly used to investigate and manage complaints.
Clonlara Independent Councillor Michael Begley believes it should be possible to track down any household that doesn’t have a valid waste collection service, and call on them to explain their disposal methods.

He says increased use of the system would also help to rule out any suspicions over whether the problem is a result of people living in bordering counties dumping their waste here:
