Collins: Clare Can’t Afford To Rest On Their Laurels After Retaining Division Two Status

Clare football boss Colm Collins is urging his players to continue striving for improvements as attentions now turn to the Munster Championship.

The Banner ensured they will be in Division Two of the National Football League with a 3-12 to 1-11 win over Louth in Cusack Park with Jamie Malone’s goal after just 11 seconds being added to by Keelan Sexton and Kieran Malone before half time.

Next up is a Munster Quarter Final against Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on May 19th with a trip to Killarney to take on Kerry awaiting the winners.

Collins says it was all about getting two more points on the board to secure their place in the second tier.

Elsewhere Cavan and Roscommon ensured they bounced straight back up to the top tier with wins over Tipperary and Cork respectively, while Meath’s win over Down means the relegation battle will have to be solved next weekend to see who joins Louth in making the drop.

Mayo hit a late point to draw with Donegal which relegates the Ulster men to Division Two while Kildare were already assured of dropping back down.
